Original country songs. Human-written, AI-performed.

AI Country Music is an independent music project built around original country songs written by David van Coolwijk, a songwriter based in the Netherlands. He writes the lyrics and the stories, and usually works out the melody and chords himself on a piano or a guitar. AI handles what comes after that: the vocals, the arrangement and the production of the finished recording.

That order matters. Nothing here begins with "write me a country song" — the song exists before AI becomes part of the process. The words and the story come first, the melody and chords are usually worked out at an instrument, and only then is the recording made.

There are more than 160 songs in the catalogue. Most are outlaw country and Americana — western ballads, storytelling songs, and a fair number about family, hard roads and getting back up. A small handful are covers of traditionals old enough that their copyright expired long ago, and those are marked as such.

You listen on demand. Press play and the songs run on one after another in an order shuffled just for you, so no two listeners hear the same sequence. You can skip, go back, or jump straight to something further down the queue. You don't need an account, there's no subscription and no advertising — this ran as a continuous radio station until August 2026, and the story of why that changed is on the blog.

Everything here starts as a written lyric, and that turned out to be the part worth building a tool around. VerseWorthy is the songwriting reviewer I made for my own use and then opened up: it reads a country lyric the way a co-writer would, says which lines are worth keeping, and gets the song ready for the generation step. The songs on this site are what came out of working that way — so if the writing side interests you more than the listening, that's where to go.
