AI Country Music is no longer a continuous broadcast. There is no stream running in the background, so there's no stream address to paste into anything. Instead you start a session yourself and the songs play one after another, in an order shuffled just for you.
What that means in practice: you can skip, go back, scrub through a song, and jump straight to anything in the queue — none of which was possible before. What you can't do any more is tune in halfway and land in the middle of whatever everyone else is hearing.
Curious why it changed? Read the story on the About page.
In your browser
The simplest way, and the one everything else is built on. Open aicountrymusic.nl/music and press Start listening. Works on a laptop, a tablet or a phone, with no account and nothing to install.
Keep the tab open and the music keeps going. Links in the menu open in a new tab on purpose, so reading the FAQ or the song catalogue won't cut the song off.
On your phone, like an app
Add the player to your home screen and it opens full-screen, without the browser bars, the way an app does.
- iPhone / iPad: open the player in Safari, tap the share button, then Add to Home Screen.
- Android: open the player in Chrome, tap the three-dot menu, then Add to Home screen or Install app.
Once it's playing, the track title, artist and cover art show up on your lock screen, and the play, pause and skip buttons there work as you'd expect.
On a speaker
Because the music now plays on your own device rather than arriving as a stream, the way to get it onto a speaker is to send your device's audio there:
- Bluetooth: pair your phone or laptop with the speaker, then start the player as usual.
- AirPlay: start the player, then pick the speaker from the AirPlay menu on your iPhone, iPad or Mac.
- Chromecast: cast the browser tab from Chrome on a computer, or cast your screen from an Android phone.
Adding the station by URL in the Sonos app, or entering a stream address in a smart speaker, no longer works — there's no address to enter.
In the car
Start the player on your phone and connect the phone to the car over Bluetooth, exactly as you would for a podcast or a music app. The steering-wheel and dashboard skip buttons will control it, because the player registers itself with your phone as a proper media player.
Entering an internet radio address in the car stereo itself no longer applies.
How the music works here
AI Country Music is an on-demand music project, not a live or linear radio stream. There is no continuous broadcast and no shared programme that every listener hears at the same moment.
When you press play, your browser fetches the catalogue and shuffles it into an order that belongs to your session alone. Two people listening at the same time hear different songs. You can pick a specific track, skip, go back, scrub through a song, or switch to something else at any point.
Everything in the catalogue was produced for this project. Most of it is original songs written by David van Coolwijk and performed with the help of AI. A number of traditional songs in the public domain sit alongside them, in recordings made for this project as well. No third-party or commercial music catalogue is played through this site.
